[*]Would you do them yourself again or rather not, and why?
[*]Did you specifically plan vacation for the construction phase or did everything happen alongside, in the evenings and on weekends?

Painting work. Floor coverings, not tiles. With professional help, my brother is a master painter. That worked well. Without him, it would have been a disaster. Filling walls and ceilings is really only for the experienced. Also physically demanding. He had a whole room finished, I not even one wall. Garden design plantings, lawn seeding, with the help of the equipment of a gardener friend, motor tiller, roller, it is strenuous when you are in the mood for agriculture, but also brings joy. The result satisfies me greatly, our lawn is the top lawn in the settlement, without buying sod. Attic insulation. No problem with a carpenter from the family. Hard work. Know-how, now I know it.

Own work for all trades except interior + exterior plastering, screed, roofing work (only for covering the roof did we of course specify tiles), floor coverings (glued tiles + vinyl).

Total vacation from 2 years (because we built from mid-year to mid-next year)
Additionally about 4 hours every evening and 10-12 hours every Saturday.

Another 600 hours from unpaid construction helpers (except costs for BG-Bau)

I would do it all the same way again anytime.
The shitty work was filling + sanding, the rest was actually fun and with proper instruction is no rocket science and doable for everyone.

Always all floors, ceilings, and walls (regardless of material), sanitary installation, suspending ceilings, terraces and outdoor facilities, stair coverings, a bit of electrical work, planning and building the garden shed myself, heating (Geisha). Soon also underfloor heating, roof insulation, ETICS. Everything in different projects, whenever there was/is time. Oh yes, a pool construction was also included.

Electrical work, painting, parquet flooring.

Always in between and/or on weekends.

all sheet metal work including connection to sewer, complete plumbing, complete water pipes, insulation of floor slab/underfloor heating, installation of underfloor heating, assembly & installation of heat pump, helper for tiling by a friend who is a tiler, complete flooring on the upper floor, individual rooms self-spackled & sanded, helper for wallpapering by a friend who is a painter, painting work in the bathrooms.

I took vacation for this and was on the construction site every day & every weekend; it was similar with my father.
