Driving there is just "a few" km, and no, of course we didn't buy blindly!

Exactly, that is not "normal" lawn, I rather fear something agricultural and thus olfactory emissions...

That's just how it is in the countryside ^^ had to google this clever word first!

Hehe, me too. Moving to the countryside and then complaining about odor or noise nuisances (e.g. rooster) is just as pointless as getting upset about street noise or car fumes in the big city.

That's why we do our research here beforehand... And "out in the countryside" is only from a big city perspective – it can be a bit quieter than in the bustling metropolis, but just not (and it's not *quiet* there either) right next to the farm!

well, even if it’s a few km away, it’s not about a few cents.

Maybe you should drive around sometime ^^

we felt like we were there about 10 times before signing the contract. it was always 160 km round trip

I was even there early in the morning, late in the evening, and sometimes at night at the potential property to know what it’s like there… for example, that on a large neighboring plot the dog (one might think from Baskerville) runs free and at night tries to scare away cats or other animals with its barking ;) or that a rooster crows a few houses away at 4 a.m.… that’s just how it is...

If I had known at my old apartment that on Sunday evenings from 10 p.m. trucks would just be roaring by towards the highway, I wouldn’t have taken it either
