What are the advantages and disadvantages of white plaster or roughcast?

Hello, we are now facing the decision between [Weissputz] or [Abrieb]. Generally, we find smooth walls very elegant, but we have heard from several sources that [Weissputz] is very sensitive, even when painted with this mineral paint, regarding knocks and dirt. Our alternative would be an [Abrieb] with a very fine grain.

- Where can one view samples with the grain to compare?

- Is it possible that [Weissputz] painted is actually cheaper than [Abrieb]? (In some reports I have read exactly the opposite)

- What are the advantages and disadvantages of [Weissputz] compared to [Abrieb]?

Our considerations and conditions that might play a role:
Parquet with shadow gap
Children
Pets
Staircase with parquet on the treads, the step "riser" then also with [Weissputz] or [Abrieb]...

White plaster, when well smoothed, is very aesthetically pleasing to look at. However, since gypsum plaster is sensitive to mechanical stress, a more durable wall coating would be advisable in a home with children and pets.

A fine-grained abrasion would be recommended; the grain "hides" smaller damages and/or cracks. When using abrasion, one should ensure that the abrasion texture is uniform in the structural pattern. Grain accumulations or structureless areas are to be avoided. The overall impression of the structural pattern must not be disturbed; then even a fine abrasion is very aesthetic.

If you want to see samples, have your plasterer show you some; in hardware stores or even better, specialist stores, you can usually also view samples.
