Weinor wireless receiver: poor quality at exorbitant prices

Recently, the radio receiver of my Weinor cassette awning Opal Design II broke down. The awning had been used very rarely before, estimated about 200 times extended and retracted. The defect itself is already annoying because even the cheapest light bulb withstands more switching cycles. But the icing on the cake is that the replacement part cost 523 EUR! Including installation, costs amounted to 750 EUR. In other words: extending and retracting the awning once cost about 3.75 EUR. The price-performance ratio is absurdly high. The warranty period had expired. The company Weinor was not willing to show any goodwill or other concessions.

Thank you for warning the builders about the follow-up costs. That is why you don’t use a proprietary system but rather rely on a standard like KNX. For that money, there would have easily been a new motor as well as a 12-channel actuator.

That is really cheeky. In purchasing, the part should be around ~100€. I made my electric awning smart and remotely controllable with a Sonoff Dual for ~10€. Technically, there isn’t much less behind it than in the Weinor thing. You really have to say, with some craftsmen / trades, you should inform yourself well in advance so as not to be sold such premium junk at ridiculous prices.

Especially since you can find Elero Biline Combio 868 radio receivers online for a fraction of the price.

So it is just a supplier part for Weinor as well.
Do they use any special connectors etc.?

: Only cables with cheap connectors hang from the radio receiver. One of them can be seen in the photo.
