hi

i've been looking for a weather station for a while. i would like to measure not only the indoor temperature but of course also the outdoor temperature. furthermore, i am interested in the temperatures of various other rooms, so i would like a device with multiple sensors/units. it's enough if all temperatures are displayed on the main unit and the currently measured temperature (from the device itself) is shown on each respective unit. i have found one or two systems, but somehow it's all cheap chinese junk and not worth the money. is there something like this in somewhat better quality that also lasts for years?! does anyone maybe have such a thing and can recommend something?

Search for Klima Logg Pro by TFA. I wouldn’t call it a weather station, but since you basically talk about temperature, the set might be something to consider. I have been using it for some time with 8 external sensors to record not only temperature but also relative humidity in different rooms (from the basement to the first floor and on the balcony as an outdoor sensor). The radio range is really good and you can also view all values graphically on the PC. The display device stores all data in between and you can read them out wirelessly via a USB stick. According to the label, the set is also manufactured in P.R.C., but I wouldn’t call it Chinese junk here. The batteries of the external sensors have already lasted more than 1.5 years; I have changed them once in the display device in the meantime.

Can easily be implemented with z-Z-Wave or 1-Wire and can then usually handle more than one box from PRC

I read a few reviews about it on Amazon and the like. The reviews indicate that the measured values deviate by several kelvins or even over 10% humidity from the calibrated device. and THAT'S EXACTLY what I mean by Chinese junk! I don’t need a guessing device, I know myself whether it’s 17 or 22°C (you can easily feel that). And with humidity it’s about whether all rooms are properly supplied by the ventilation system. A difference of around 10% (e.g. 50% instead of 40% humidity) is worlds apart and not measuring but pure guessing. From a measuring device I expect measuring with an acceptable margin of error, not guessing or rolling dice. But nowadays you hardly get quality in the private sector. People rather spend lots of money to somehow get the fake data onto the PC than to determine the measurement values properly. It’s like developing a car with a fancy hi-fi system, but then installing a Beetle engine in the 7-series BMW...
