Hello,
I hope you can help me, as I have very limited knowledge in construction!
I moved into my new build last autumn and have been wondering from the start about the height of the ventilation shaft of the kitchen extractor hood, which was only slightly above ground level before the asphalt was laid. In autumn, the driveway was paved, and if the workers had not been careful, the ventilation shaft would have been buried halfway below ground level.
Since the load, among other things with moisture at the base, is highest, I am worried that especially during heavy rain, moisture could enter my house through the shaft. According to my installer, everything is fine. However, a colleague who is not an expert said that the shaft should have been installed at least 30 cm above ground level.
Is the shaft too low or should the installer have chosen a different height? What should I do in case of water damage?
Looking forward to your answers!
