that has to do with pressure. Just google it

Since the controlled residential ventilation, the exhaust hood and the chimney extract/use room air, a negative pressure is created. However, this can be avoided by equipping the wood stove to be independent of room air. This must already be planned during construction. The chimney receives a ventilation shaft. With the exhaust hood, external supply air must also be ensured during operation. Either by a window switch or by an automatically opening pipe in the outer wall.

Why did I decide against a wood stove? Because I don't want it just as decoration. Then I might as well have a TV built into the wall and put in a fireplace DVD. But since we spent the vacation, when the stove was on, in underwear (which is basically not a bad thing ) I decided against it. The stove only stole the CO2 from the air and made me tired. Besides, the house was way too well insulated, which tends to be even better in my house..

Well, that is only partially correct...

A properly sized stove does not overheat the house.

Most stoves in new buildings are also designed as room air independent firing points, so the stove neither "steals" O2 from you nor lets CO2 (rather unhealthy) into the room...

Dirk
