Venetian blind in the new building - built-in or surface-mounted?

Hello everyone,

We did not deal with the technical details of the raffstores/roller shutters but said before signing that there should be raffstores everywhere and made of aluminum.
Now the sampling appointment is set and in the construction performance description it states that built-on roller shutters or blinds will be installed... When I check on the internet, this seems more like a retrofit solution?
We just want a simple, uniform facade without visible boxes...
Does anyone here know about this? Is mounted better than built-on? Can the built-on box also "disappear" in the facade behind plaster?
Thanks GD

With today's wall thicknesses, it is also possible to place a roller shutter in front of the window profiles and plaster over it. Here are a few pictures of our system: Whether that then corresponds to what you get...

Venetian blinds & roller shutter boxes usually have different thicknesses - it is important that the windows themselves are set at least flush with the outside of the wall, even better (with ETICS) if they are set in front of the reveal (with appropriate frames or angles).

Depending on the window profile thickness, wall thickness, ETICS thickness, window height, Venetian blind/roller shutter material, it can well be that external boxes fit and are still flush. If not, then overlay systems are used.

In principle, the external solutions are, in my opinion, not bad, provided your window profile extension is also well insulated (core insulation). With overlay systems, you always need to check how much insulation is still planned at the front and back in the box, and whether the constructive solution is really completely airtight.

Thanks in advance to everyone. I'm a bit more relaxed about it now. I asked the general contractor, it is a box construction but flush with the facade, plastered, and not visible. Am I right in understanding that in any case a few centimeters of raw building opening above the window will be used for the boxes? In the case of a top-mounted box because a box sits between the window and the upper wall, and in the case of a built-out box because it is in front? How should I imagine the differences in the interior appearance? Thanks GD

It's already somewhat more, depending on the window height / for blinds rather 30 cm.

For the built-up version, the box inside has insulation or wall material designed so that it can be plastered (therefore, during installation, it must also be slightly set back inward so that the transition can be made as easily as possible).

For the applied version, you first see 30 cm of window frame at the top – probably not necessarily desired, so this is usually covered again with construction boards or similar, possibly corner rails are installed and also plastered. Alternatively: a wall lintel is provided there from the very beginning.

The final result should be (visually) the same.

Addendum: It is best to request detailed drawings/cross-sections of the window (if necessary, as an example). Then you can see exactly what they plan to do and, if necessary, make corrections if something is not quite sensible visually/technically.
