Hello

where exactly is the difference, except in the material of course!? What is "better", if you can say it like that?

We are planning a new building and in the offer for the insulation in the roof there is the vapor barrier paper. With my brother we still installed foil 2 years ago!

Thanks for any tips!

Vapor barrier paper is used in ecological house construction because it is more or less vapor-permeable and is adapted to the properties of natural insulation materials such as hemp fiber, coconut fiber, wood fiberboard, etc.

If you want to use mineral insulation, I would advise against it. Moisture from the interior must not escape into these insulation materials under any circumstances, for which approved PE vapor barrier foil is more suitable.

Hello,

fine thanks. Then maybe for further tips: The roof structure is planned as follows:

- Tiles
- Battens
- Soft fiber underlay panels 60mm
- Insulation between rafters 200mm
- Counter battens inside
- 25-50mm insulation between the counter battens (depending on the thickness of the battens)

The insulation between the rafters is now the big question! With my brother we used Rockwool. My neighbor is currently insulating his new build and has a "wool" from Knauf, he says it is super easy to work with, hardly "itches" at all!!

If I go to 7 building material dealers, I get 7 different answers about what the best insulation is )

In their setup the vapor barrier is missing, it is installed on the underside of the rafters, then counter battens and between the counter battens the UKF (Untersparren-Klemmfilz), after that the final covering, drywall, profile boards etc.

Of course every building material dealer promotes their best product. The mineral wool from Knauf is a new development. In the spinning process an (organic-natural binder, according to Knauf) is added and surrounds the mineral fiber. Therefore this wool is less prone to shedding the smallest fibers during installation. In this respect the wool "almost doesn't scratch" at all.

That's exactly what I'm asking about, I've always only heard about foil but never about paper!?

With my brother, we installed Klemmrock; I have to say it was easy to work with, anyone who still knows that stuff from 15 years ago knows what really scratches!!
