Until when is smoking tolerated in the new building?

I am really anything but a militant non-smoker and would still forbid smoking in my house once there are windows and doors in it.
Not because I have concerns about permanent damage or odor nuisance.
For me, it is simply a matter of consideration and respect for my property.
Actually, I assumed that something like this was self-evident…
This sign has been hanging on my door from day one, without me having to say anything extra or even put it in a contract:

The picture looks very nice. But I think I would need something that has a much clearer visual language. Not everyone on the construction site is proficient in German, and I probably wouldn't be able to read written text anyway. :)

My husband can sing a song about that. Our little one is learning it in no time at kindergarten, and dad only understands gibberish anymore. :D

My wife also brought the topic onto my agenda after an inspection of the construction site over the weekend. We will put a beer garden set in the garage for the summer and an ashtray with it. We hope that we can do without such a sign. But if smoking gets out of hand, we will put it up and see how it looks then. Craftsmen have already thrown burning cigarette butts into the excavation pit in front of my eyes, which they then covered up minutes later. I was almost about to lose it then, but I said nothing. It has probably become an automatic behavior, and some don't even notice it anymore.

We recently opened up our over 100-year-old floor. Removed the slag. We found the packaging of cigarettes from a well-known cigarette factory there. Even in 1921, the construction workers’ garbage was already disposed of like that :D. A few magazines and a broken compass were also found.
