Unreliable demolition company

Hello everyone,

I have purchased a plot of land on which I want to build. There were old garages on the plot that were supposed to be demolished. I hired a company to do this. At first, the company did not start the work for a long time. That was not so important to me at first, as I still had to wait a long time for the building permit; the work (I thought) should take a maximum of one week. Now it has been dragging on for over three months, I have the building permit and would like to start. However, the demolition is still ongoing and I fear it will take several more weeks. What can I do now to get the company moving?

I have now given him a two-week deadline. The neighbors also said that an absolute amateur is working there, who does something else as a main job. My suspicion is therefore that undeclared work is being done there. I just think the excavator has been standing there forever. That can’t be economically viable!

Just because someone does something else as their main job doesn’t mean they are an amateur.

And honestly... he was cheap, right? You liked that. He promised you something without an invoice, but with advance payment, and you agreed.

You also gave him the little and ring finger by showing him that you are in no hurry.
This is how it goes with hand-in-hand deals. Then the whole hand is literally taken ;)
