Hello,

Our technical room was already tiled before installing the heat pump (for heating) the screed. To allow better drying, the tiles were not grouted, but now it is no longer possible to access underneath the heat pump afterwards.

Do we need to expect problems here because the joints are missing? The technical room also houses a washing machine and dryer. If these leak at some point, will the screed be damaged where there is no grout?

No, fully sealed joints do not prevent the screed from becoming damp in the event of flooding. Cement screed does not mind that; the problem is presumably that water gets under the screed into the insulation.

Calcium sulfate screed is different; it should have been properly sealed.

As far as I understand, we have cement screed throughout the entire house. The shower and bathroom will be additionally insulated. So in case of water damage, it then seeps everywhere through the screed into the insulation? Great

Depending on the amount of water, it would do so with joints as well. Unfortunately.

It doesn't matter if it is grouted there, it has no function on such a small area. The tiles will not loosen either. Completely irrelevant for water.
