Hello everyone,

I am completely new here and have never been active in forums before. I hope I am placing the topic here somewhat correctly.

We are currently planning our little house with a double garage. Behind this double garage there is also a workshop. So the entire garage has an external dimension of 6x9 m. Now the question is, what kind of floor should be used for the garage. At first, we wanted a concrete slab with an industrial coating. However, this has the disadvantage that water from wet cars could not drain away. Also, according to our construction company, we should budget up to €7000 for this area of concrete slab, which seems like a lot of money to us. Therefore, we are now considering paving. However, we do not find this particularly attractive visually. Somehow you then feel like you are outside in the garage. We also expect the problem in the workshop that if a screw falls on the floor, it cannot be found again. What do you think about the topic? Do you have any tips for us or are there possibly other alternatives?

What kind of garage is it? Brick-built? Precast concrete garage? Timber frame?

The garage is to be built with masonry.

I am currently building a very similar combination of carport with garage and attached storage/workshop. However, as a timber frame construction on point/strip foundation.

The garage and carport will be paved together with the yard later. The storage room will be covered with 40x40 walkway slabs with a minimal chamfer. I did not want to build a concrete slab + covering just for the 6x3m.

I have screed in the garage and then coated it myself with 2K epoxy paint. It is really extremely durable and does not get stains even from car tires. It also still looks good and did not cost 400€. Area comparable to yours. Regarding drainage, a slight slope is enough, right?

How do you do that with screed? That means without a concrete slab? Basically, for me as a layperson, concrete applied directly onto the bare ground? :-?
