Acrylic is only supposed to seal the joint. With a molding, you can't see it anyway, so it probably works without it too.

Ok, so only visually, not for sealing....

There should also be nothing for sealing. The plaster should already be watertight on its own. Acrylic is then for bridging gaps. Silicone would also work, but only acrylic is paintable.

I believe this is about a bungalow from Heinz von Heiden. We have that too. Our ceiling is drywall, suspended from the beam structure of the ceiling. All the walls are masonry. The gap width also depends on how precisely the drywall was cut.

If you can endure it, leave it open for 2 years, it will move. Acrylic will crack again before that, acrylic is also less elastic than silicone. I would definitely not recommend silicone, I tried it once in an old building, it was no good.

If you can't endure it, you could use moldings and just glue them to the ceiling, then they can slide along.

Congratulations, when will you move in?

Best regards Gabriele

The drywall gap between the ceiling drywall and the sidewall was plastered in our case (as the previous speaker already said, the gap can vary more or less in thickness). Regarding the gap between ceiling and wall, I thought it was dealt with after wallpapering, for example.

Acrylic should only be used then and there if it can/should be painted afterwards.

The painter is currently here with us, and he is sealing it with acrylic. He has already finished the first rooms. I find cornices under the ceiling very nice, but for now, we don’t have any. Maybe they will come later. So far, the painter has masked off a few centimeters there and left it white. I actually like it.
