Hello everyone,

we are currently planning our house. Now we have come to a standstill with the topic of the fireplace.

We have chosen the fireplace "Marmorkamin 11/232" from Hark. The chimney can be easily modified. However, we now have a problem with the windows. On the right and left side, there will be windows in the living room. The fireplace itself is 183 cm tall and has the firebox on the far right. How far must the window, or the curtain, be from the firebox or the entire fireplace on the right and left sides?

Best regards, Kerstin

Good evening Kerstin,

You can find information about this on the Hark website; among other things, this:

"Where should the stove be installed?

Anyone considering installing a stove should have an appropriate room. In addition to the size of the room and the thermal insulation, the condition of the floor, ceiling, and walls plays a major role. If the walls, floor, and ceiling are non-combustible, there are no problems with installing the stove. In that case, the minimum distances for non-combustible walls apply. For the rear side of the stove, 20 cm is sufficient to ensure fire protection. On the sides of the stove, 20 cm are sufficient to ensure fire protection. If the stove has side glass panels, a distance of 65 cm must be ensured. In the area of the firebox door, a distance of 80 cm to combustible objects must be maintained. It makes sense to plan somewhat more generously here. The door must open towards the fuel for refueling. It makes no sense to have to move armchairs and carpets aside every time you add fuel."

Rhenish greetings

I would consider that if I were you – the fireplace could/will be squeezed against the wall with the windows. Also, the proportions of the massive fireplace might not match the windows.

Hello,

Did you install this "Marmorkamin 11/232"?
What experiences do you have with this fireplace?

Regards

Well, we have it too.

Unfortunately, the stove barely stores heat and takes quite a long time to warm up.
We use it to heat our 50 sqm apartment including the hallway through the outlets on both walls of the back side.

It has been running since 2013, so about 4 years. After about 1-2 weeks of heating, the glass pane starts to turn black from soot at the top, even though there is very good draft. Also at the point where the two glass panes meet.
A technician from HARK was also here back then and replaced all the seals. Without improvement.

I really wouldn’t recommend the stove.
There are certainly better ones for the same price. Also, in hindsight, we would rather go for one with ceramic that stores the heat.

Regards
