Hello everyone,

we have applied for our financing and in our financing concept we are also relying on grants from KfW in two points.

On the one hand, the energy consultation and in this context also the application for the building permit are to be subsidized with 50%. On the other hand, we are doing a comprehensive renovation with roof, windows, insulation, heating, etc. - here we want to rely on the 15 - 30% grants from KfW up to 100k.

What we are currently wondering, however, is how the timeline for the whole thing looks. How long does it take until we see any of the grants?

For the consultation grant, a total of about 3000€ arises, which can be subsidized by 50%. When can we apply for the grants? Only after completion of the renovation?

The other projects will take a bit longer and with the goal KfW 100 or KfW 85 will amount to almost 100k in total. Can we apply for the individual items step by step, or only when everything is finished? How long does it then take until the grants are paid out?

I would be very happy about any experience! Thank you very much in advance!

We are building new and using KfW 153. Our expert handed us the online confirmation for the KfW loan agreement at the beginning of May, along with all the formalities for the subsidy from program 431. We signed and sent all that away. The confirmation came last week. So at some point we will submit the invoice and hope for our money.

After completion of the measures, we will receive a final confirmation from the expert. We sign it and forward it to our bank. They then send it to the KfW. After that, there will be the repayment subsidy at some point.

Hmm. I already figured that much. Although you probably only need to have completed the KfW-relevant parts in order to apply for the subsidies? So not necessarily the interior finishing yet...?

Does anyone have completed construction experience? Especially with the larger subsidies, that's interesting—they are planned as a buffer for us and therefore shouldn't come only years later...

Are the grants actually paid out or are they "only" granted as a repayment subsidy for the KfW loan? Then the relief would only be noticeable "at" the end of the fixed interest period, when the remaining debt has significantly decreased.

This is the case, for example, with KfW 153.

No, they are actual grants. It is about the KfW program 430 and the grants for consulting from [Bafa]. The low-interest loans would have been the alternative, but we decided against them because of the short fixed interest period of 10 years.

So if it helps somehow, for us the repayment grant for the Energy Efficient Renovation Program came about 4 weeks after submitting the confirmation after completion of the measures from the energy consultant. According to the KfW FAQ, the repayment grant should come 3 months after submitting the confirmation (everything completed, not the confirmation for the online application). The grant for involving the energy consultant comes after submitting their invoice, I guess the processing time will be similar there. The repayment grant is NOT paid out but shortens the term of the loan. However, since you can repay it in full at any time, it becomes noticeable immediately, if you plan a payoff. We have program 151 and will now repay completely after 5 years and restructure all 3 loans, 2 of them with KfW, into a single loan. Since the repayment grant has already been credited, we also have a correspondingly lower outstanding balance.
