Hello In our house, 60 m2 of tiles were renewed 2 years ago. Tiles were glued on top of tiles, a primer was applied to the old tile and after drying, tile adhesive was applied. The installation looked really good, in one or two spots there was a slight edge, meaning one tile was slightly raised. Now after 2 years, several edges are visible, the tiles seem to be moving. Is that even possible, it actually can't have been like that from the beginning, otherwise we would have noticed. The company has been closed for 1.5 years, the master craftsman is retired and there was no successor.

Tap to see if it sounds hollow, otherwise lift and see what is going on.

Hello questioner. What "tomtom79" wrote, you should actually try once. Maybe gently tap the tiles with the back of a knife, then you can already hear whether and if YES to what extent this tile is hollow. If the tile laying job back then, which according to your information was only 2 years ago, was officially done (I am not thinking here of “neighborly help”), then the warranty period should nevertheless not be affected by the business closure. Sure, a legal question which I as a non-lawyer cannot answer. But I would be very surprised if legitimate claims could not be enforced through removal by a third party and shifting the costs to the then business owner (who is still liable). Regards: KlaRa
