Hello,

our tile dealer asked us whether we want ready-made skirting boards or alternatively prefer to order a few more tiles and have the tiler cut the skirting boards himself.

We sat there somewhat puzzled and didn’t know what to do, especially since there was no sample piece available.
These are 20x120 wood-look tiles.

Advantage of ready-made skirting boards: rounded edges in wood look.
Disadvantage: somewhat more expensive

With cut ones, you would see the tile edge, but that hardly stands out (similar color tone).

What do you think? Would you be annoyed if you gave up the rounded edges?

Cut by the tiler, I would have it flush plastered. Of course, this is not possible with drywall walls, and the interior plasterer has to come twice.

I would choose the rounded option, it costs a bit more but is worth it. The cut edge from the tile cutter is very, very sharp and depending on the tile, it can also fray a bit.

Hello!

Our tiler will cut the baseboards from the tiles. In the current apartment, we also have cut baseboards and I noticed that more dust accumulates there, but it will be the same with rounded ones, just maybe a little less. The finished baseboards are more than "somewhat expensive" for us. Sharp edges? I haven't noticed... I need to feel them again today.

So the edges of the patterned tile were not sharp. You would then place the cut edge on the floor. From one tile he would then cut two strips.

On the room sides where the long side of the tile rests; but not on the sides where the narrow side (the 20) rests; there would be 110 cm waste....

One would probably still install 120 cm baseboards where the narrow side lies. That means one baseboard would span 6 floorboards/tiles.
