Thuja are dying little by little

We planted a thuja hedge in September last year. So far, it looked really good. Now more and more plants are turning brown. The brown plants are very easy to pull out. It seems as if the roots haven't grown together at all. What could be the reason for this? Especially since the plants were actually very green and had already grown quite well until now.

No roots means too little watering and I don't mean watering during heat. My Gala, for example, said that for the lawn it should be watered in spring at mild temperatures because the lawn forms roots and thereby withstands summer better.

So far, one out of 40 thuja trees has died here. Just slowly turned brown. Also planted last autumn. All the others still look great. Hope we don’t lose more.

You misunderstood that and I formulated it poorly. You have to water every day in heat and also in spring, so even before April.

White under the bark? Check for the fungus Armillaria Mellea. You can google it.
