I have been using these things for decades and was very surprised during construction when it was even up for debate and apparently still not standard. However, none of mine have ever broken. Since mine are all surface-mounted, it wouldn't be that bad. Two screws, swap, done.

My opinion: nobody needs it

but...

In the main bathroom, the question really doesn’t arise, since all the better shower installations with rain showers are standard with thermostats. In the guest bathroom, we ultimately chose it as well, since the additional cost is relatively low (<150€ gross), but the appearance is much more high-quality.

I am quite amazed to read about so many problems... I have had one installed in my condominium for 18 years - without problems.

Of course, there are also some again in the house - UP.

And yes: I find the constant mixing of hot and cold annoying and oldschool. Turning it on and (with circulation) it takes a few seconds until it is nicely and suitably warm!

We are also getting thermostats – I just find it pleasant when the water temperature doesn't constantly fluctuate. We already had one in my parents' house (built in 1975) and it actually broke at some point, but in that case, it only manifested in the fact that you had to set something around 50 degrees (is there really no degree symbol on the iOS standard keyboard or am I just not finding it?) to achieve a comfortable temperature. It then continued to maintain that. "Broken" doesn't necessarily mean a total failure with thermostats either…

Thank you all for the feedback. The trend of the survey is, although statistically significant, in favor of the thermostat fitting. It will also be implemented with us!

Hello everyone,

I would like to bring up the topic again.

We are wondering if it might also make sense to have a faucet with a thermostat on the bathtub? This way, you can set, for example, 38°C once and the temperature is always optimal, and you don’t have to juggle with hot and cold water.
