The roller shutter box is not flush with the wall - possibly a planning error? Any ideas?

Basically, "bug/feature" is also my approach and often this results in even better solutions than originally thought, thanks for the idea.
We had also tentatively considered curtains before and that might actually work quite well. But the thing is, curtains are generally not supposed to go there.....
By now, however, it is the sum of several things; if it were one of few things, I would have just had it done instead of being so annoyed about it.

Yes, the dose makes the poison. I wish you that you can soon return to your calmness that resonates here as well. I believe these emotional movements during construction are quite common – especially when you put so many thoughts into the project like you do.

Thank you. Despite the sudden pressure to move, we consciously took time for planning, details, etc. In retrospect, I also see that exactly during this planning period, the topic of Corona significantly restricted us; otherwise, we would have examined many things in detail beforehand, or I would have liked to travel around the country and take a closer look at specific things. Of course, some personal misjudgments also become clear to me now; that’s usually what annoys you the most. Maybe one is just no longer as stress-resistant.... o_O Additionally, I find it very difficult that unreliability is already partly considered the standard or that Corona/supply bottlenecks have to serve as a general explanation. In the decisive points for us, it definitely was NOT because of that, but demonstrably due to personal/professional inadequacies. Dealing with mistakes made bothers me little if one is then willing to jointly look for a solution; that can even be bonding on a personal level. However, the three-monkeys version of closing mouth, ears, and eyes really is hard for me. Now only a few services of the main contractor are outstanding; afterwards, we have already found and commissioned our own craftsmen; so it is important to get through this mostly unscathed. After that, not everything will be perfect either, but then I can at least decide freely...we'll see.

The cancellation of exploratory trips would have affected us greatly as well. The general explanation of Corona/supply shortages is annoying and, for me, comparable to a yellow sick note for not wanting to go to work – here, however, only for service providers. As a client, one feels at the mercy of circumstances – especially difficult if one is oneself an independent decision-maker and creative personality. Your house concept is so good and thoughtfully designed through life experience – once you are inside, it will work – a few details here and there. Then what currently appears dull will shine again.

Who exactly gave the premature praise – have you yourself given a recommendation here somewhere that you would now have to revise (and: where exactly are the problems)?

Well then, it was what I could achieve here as a newcomer in the area. Added to that was the fact that very few companies even had time. Therefore, I believed it was the best possible decision.
Ultimately, I also have advantages compared to many GU problems described here, as he is really very flexible when it comes to equipment, etc.; I do not want to overlook that. Of course, one always bears some responsibility oneself that something is the way it is, unfortunately me as well.

Maybe our tendency towards nice details is too pronounced for a GU or our already advanced age has more effect than expected. Probably it was the same with the first build in 1990, but who would you have told back then due to lack of internet, mobile phones, etc. The walls probably still know...
No, I do not have to revise any recommendation, I have not given any regarding GU so far, and I would be cautious anyway. I also believe that someone else might handle it completely differently. There probably is no ONE good or ONE bad, and I think that elsewhere there would simply have been different problems.
It hangs: Generally on the coordination between trades, on relevant details, craftsmen do not know about agreements and then they are gone for weeks and the next trade is hanging... and thus unnecessary time passes.
The GU means no harm, I rather suspect that he overestimated himself with the number of houses currently and due to Corona etc., such things are now additionally becoming apparent.
