The substrate must always be adapted accordingly. For Poroton or Ytong, less bonding primer is needed, but instead deep primer to seal off the highly absorbent material. Here, adhesion is given by the relatively rough surface.

Other substrates may not absorb as strongly; here, a bonding primer is rather needed to facilitate adhesion. This is done when tiling over tiles. The bonding primer is important in this case.

Or the top plaster on facades. It also needs bonding primer. Usually, quartz sand and deep primer are combined to provide proper adhesion and a barrier in the base plaster.

But I would definitely say that treating the Poroton substrate with deep primer is essential when using gypsum plaster. Otherwise, look at your bathroom; the plaster will come off again.

Moreover, deep primer isn't even expensive. You don't need a brand product for it. 10 L cost about 12 euros.

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, I had no influence on such things since I am building with a turnkey contractor. When a so-called master company with long experience carries out the work, buyers assume that the people know what they are doing. Somehow the supposed savings do not justify what happens when everything falls off...

It is not a drama, the plaster will hold as long as no one is hammering around there.

Test yourself whether there is a primer on the Poroton. As mentioned, simply spray the stones best with a spray bottle filled with water (glass cleaner bottle, etc.). If the water is immediately and sponge-like absorbed, there is nothing on it. If, after spraying several times, it beads up, then there is a barrier.

Why exactly the plaster comes off as surely as amen in church still during the warranty period is "secondary" ;-)

I just went around the house and used the spray bottle. It soaks into the stone somewhat. There will be no plaster primer on it. I hope this doesn't escalate and is only in this area. I will carefully tap the surfaces with an expert soon. Thanks for the information.
