The base plate was cast too large - it has now been shortened - is that okay?

Hello dear experts,

we are just at the beginning of the construction and already the first mishap has happened. The foundation slab was poured too big! Yes, it's actually unbelievable how something like that can happen, but it did (by the way, the foundation slab was made by a very well-known company).

The foundation slab is 16 cm too long on one side, and additionally, a recess for the bay window is also affected.

This was noticed during the foundation slab inspection. We were then told that it can happen (the construction manager was visibly embarrassed) and that they would fix it. Yesterday, the foundation slab was "shortened" by the said 16 cm. The slab was milled out with a kind of cutting disc, like in road construction. Since the slab is much thicker than the cutting disc can cut in depth, the rest was painstakingly removed with a pneumatic hammer. The remaining part was then replastered.

Well, now everything is supposed to be okay again, which I also really hope. - I am not an expert, so I would like to hear the opinion of the professionals here.

In my eyes, it cannot be as good as if it had been properly poured. A component was reopened and filled again. The frost skirt, which was previously 50 cm, is now only 34 cm (allegedly a maximum of 20 cm is needed and it was always 50 cm because the excavator’s bucket always creates 50 cm wide trenches).

I am already sad that the construction starts like this and I really hope that we will not have any problems because of this later on.

Which expert can tell me something about this topic? Thanks!

P.S. By the way, it is a KFW40+ house or foundation slab of the same standard.

A building surveyor would be worth their weight in gold right now. Generally, I would be very cautious, the construction manager will of course say: "Yeah, it's fine now," but what else is he supposed to say. Definitely get a second opinion before proceeding.

The problem is no longer the base slab. If it has been properly finished and the reinforcing steel has the correct coverage, everything is fine...

But if the strip footings are also misplaced, be sure to get a structural engineer.

(The width of the excavator bucket is nonsense... they come in all variations!)

Can the strip foundations be incorrect then? It is "only" 16 cm that were cut off in the end.

If the strip foundations are not positioned correctly, I would definitely also involve an expert. I believe that the strip foundations are also incorrect, because it must be noticeable when nailing the formwork that the base slab becomes too large if the foundations are correct. Or?

do you mean frost skirts by strip foundations? It's something similar ...

What exactly are you getting, a load-bearing floor slab with about 25-30cm thickness or strip foundations plus floor slab? The loads are transferred via appropriate strip foundations and the floor slab is usually only max. 16cm thick?
