They can be well anchored in small foundations set into the terrace or underneath. Then decent quality can withstand a storm like Ela (2014, like Kyrill). Even though I was afraid of it back then...

Patio roofs are to homeowners like the crocheted toilet paper roll on the parcel shelf of a retiree's Mercedes driver: absolutely necessary, but looks ridiculous … :)

The first thing I thought after buying: patio, you need a patio roof, you can't do without shading on the south side and so on…. but it almost ruins every facade …. so I gave up.

The house here is really beautiful and with the design element of the tall windows it wasn't cheap either, so there really had to be a solution that forms a symbiosis with the design of the house.

Thank you for the feedback. We feel the same as most people here. We really can't imagine a terrace roof directly attached to the house in our case. Basically, we appreciate the uncovered seating area. For sun protection, we have a large parasol. And it would also be somewhat nonsensical to have large windows spanning two floors (we look onto a church as our neighbor with a proper distance ;-)) and then restrict the free view with a terrace roof set at any height.

However, this year marks our 6th summer in the house, and especially during the transitional weeks before or after summer, with light rain, etc., we have often wished to be able to sit outside a little longer. Also, we would like to use cozy terrace furniture that should then be somewhat weather-protected.

The idea of covering only part of the terrace and maybe using a freestanding aluminum/glass pavilion sounds interesting to me. Thanks for the food for thought.

p.s. Wind and pavilions are a tricky thing... in the picture, you can see the neighbor’s pavilion visiting us ;-)

Canopies are just super practical, I can totally understand that. I think a mix of partial canopy and sail or pavilion wouldn’t really fit with your harmonious symmetry. You can perfectly incorporate the design of your very successful window layout into the canopy… same dark color, same division of glass surfaces, posts symmetrical to the windows.. slim and modern.. and definitely not too low.. It’s going to be great!

Hi,
are you any further?
Why isn’t it going to be a louvered roof? There are also options that open with the right budget. You probably don’t want to shade the house permanently. Alternatively, with an awning instead of louvers (e.g., Q.bus).
With corresponding side zips, you can make it a weatherproof pavilion in both cases, which then disappear invisibly again.
I’m currently thinking about a similar solution.

And it would also visually match your modern house.
