Telekom says TV is not possible - Can that really be true?

Hello everyone,

with us, the connection is brand new through Telekom. For internet and landline. So now I didn’t even think about the fact that TV is also wanted. I called and she said with my 16,000 connection TV is not possible, since internet and phone are already running over it and the bandwidth would be too low for TV.

So technically it would be possible, but with my connection I wouldn’t have fun watching TV if the TV is on and someone is using the WLAN at the same time. Is that true?

Can I not get a TV connection anymore except via satellite? That would mean everything has to be ripped up again, right? We are just about to move in and everything is finished.
It’s also annoying that only Telekom and Vodafone are possible in our town. I think also 1und1, but I’m not quite sure about that.

We really don’t watch much, but every now and then still...

Damn...

Install a satellite system. Although it initially costs some money, the monthly expenses are eliminated, making it ultimately cheaper. Furthermore, you are not dependent on the provider's goodwill to receive the corresponding channels.

To what extent it is possible for you to implement this later without much mess cannot, of course, be determined from a distance. In the extreme case, the cables could be routed in narrow cable ducts into a corner and then laid under plaster during the next renovation.

Monthly costs will become due at some point in the future, so that is only partially true.

You might want to inform yourself about SAT over IP @Sauerpetee

Why? Do you have more detailed information on that or is it just a gut feeling (which doesn't have to be a bad thing)?

Brief and to the point:

- Telekom Entertain with "only" 16,000 ADSL -> forget it. Useful from VDSL 25 onwards
- Monthly costs for T-Entertain: from the first month 5 euros per reception point and another 5 € per receiver rental (alternatively approx. 250€ purchase)
- If no SAT cabling to the rooms is possible anymore, but CAT6/7 runs up to the TV, then SAToverIP is a sensible alternative. SAT on the roof, feeding into the LAN in the attic or utility room. One Sat over IP receiver per TV.
