Hello everyone,
we are currently renovating a newly purchased old building from 1965 on our own.
The entire house has already been gutted, now the reconstruction is about to begin :) We have a 30 cm brick wall (double row), new windows will be installed and an ETICS will be applied.
I have drawn the bathroom/toilet in CAD so that you can imagine it -> the full program basically :-)
What is causing us headaches (despite two windows) is the issue of mold in the bathroom.
We removed the old straw mat ceiling (in hindsight maybe a mistake as it was bone dry, but we wanted to be on the safe side), but we left the battens of the suspended ceiling in place. As you can see in the photo, it is a ceiling made of reinforced concrete beams + concrete "blocks" + also vaulted Heraklite elements.
New construction:
We will probably install a decentralized ventilation system in the bathroom or at least an exhaust fan (wall between the two windows).
In addition, I would like a suspended ceiling with recessed spotlights between the concrete beams. I am open regarding the materials.
Does a vapor barrier need to be installed or is it sufficient to apply a diffusion control layer?
What should the recommended assembly generally be like?
Above that is the attic, which is planned to be converted in about 1-2 years (currently only some insulation attempts by the previous owners - will be redone).
Best regards from the south!
