We had mosaic installed on the front wall of the shower, specifically the expensive glass mosaic (2sqm/360€).
It was apparently a multi-component adhesive - the tiler was wearing a respirator and had to clip each individual tile at the edge instead of just cutting them like usual.
The joints often have to be scraped free of adhesive again so that the grout has space.

YES, IT’S A LOT OF WORK!

That may also be true. But I've never heard that mosaic becomes cheaper than tiles. You can best get a few comparable offers, that way you can better understand whether it is justified. Regards

Isn't it something different again with the glass mosaic and the special adhesive? We don't use that at all. I mean, sure, it's an effort, laying tiles is after all an "effort"... but it's simply also just the job. It's still always a question of how much additional cost would be acceptable.

And whether it "is not easy to lay" and you have to "be careful" and work "carefully"... actually, I would basically ALWAYS expect a professional to do and be able to do that.

have you ever done puzzles in your life ??

If not, please buy yourself an 80*100 cm puzzle:

- one for toddlers with 20 pieces
- one for adults with 200 pieces

Which one will be faster?

The puzzle with one piece. But ask the tiler if he has to put such a tile on the wall ;-) Our kitchen countertop tiles are 60x120.

There is a "standard range" of tile sizes that do not incur any additional cost, and then there are formats in both directions that simply require more work and therefore become more expensive. The mosaic (is usually rather 30x30) is indeed lighter in weight than a 60x120 tile, but it is more complex in terms of grout lines, etc. All grout lines must match each other.
