As is often the case, it would be important to know all the details. For example, at the time I only paid just under 2500 EUR for the upgrade of the already installed oak staircase to "oak smoked and oiled." However, the construction was also changed from bolt to stringer staircase and the steps were made from sorted blockware instead of the standard finger-jointed material. The additional cost seemed realistic to me.

We had a list that included all the involved trades. Do you have that as well? Just ask the staircase builder who would bring the beech staircase. You keep the beech staircase in the contract, he brings the oak staircase, the clients pay him an additional charge, and the construction company doesn't take anything in between. Maybe that would be more attractive. Best regards Gabriele

Hello,

I find it too much. I paid €2600 gross extra for the same combination. I find double that quite steep.

I didn't like the beech color at all. Therefore, I commissioned to stain the staircase white. However, that didn't work properly, so the stair builder offered to wax it instead. So now I have a really beautiful, light (almost white) staircase, where no one would think it could be beech. Additional cost per floor: €300. I don't know, however, if you could create an oak look this way. I just wanted to point out that you can also change the character of the wood in other ways.

The characteristic grain of oak can't be achieved this way, but if you like it, that's fine.
