Hello,
The background of the question is the subsequent installation of shutters on a plastered ETICS façade with 16cm Styrodur and 16cm aerated concrete as the backing masonry. Some installers recommend ETICS thermal anchors for this, while others say that the leverage forces are too great and instead recommend insulating mounting blocks that are bonded to the backing masonry with threaded rods/sleeves/injection mortar. I tend to lean more towards the mounting blocks but, as a layperson, I cannot assess the risks involved.
Now the specific question: If an existing ETICS façade is opened, a piece of Styrodur is cut out, a mounting block is fastened in the backing masonry, the piece of Styrodur is then put back on, re-reinforced, and re-plastered, what risks are involved? Is the "damaged" spot in the ETICS then especially moisture-prone?
Thanks for your tips,
Best regards
