Certainly significantly (!!!) worse than through a 1cm door gap. Not to mention the light that can penetrate.

It's actually a relatively wide labyrinth seal.

For those who find their way here through the search: I have now been recommended by two door suppliers to do the ventilation through the frame. There are also manufacturers who offer this ready-made, but it is enough if you use a router and a little craftsmanship to make the notch yourself. Especially attractive if you install it yourself.

I'm digging up the old thread again. We are also building new and with [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung].

Overall, after studying this thread (apart from Wabe), there are four options, which get more expensive in terms of price.

[*]Use Röhrenspan and install everything completely normally
[*]Use Röhrenspan with Schallex, but then mill into the top of the frame because of [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung]
[*]Use Vollspan and install everything completely normally
[*]Use Vollspan with Schallex, but then mill into the top of the frame because of [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung]

Does anyone have practical experience whether there is a positive effect between Schallex or similar recessing combined with milling in vs. installing "completely normally"?

What makes the most sense for bedrooms and children's rooms?

Thanks to you all

There are also soundproofing drop seals that still allow air to pass through: just google "Planet MinE". Sound insulation and air volumes are specified very precisely in the datasheets... after all, it's a Swiss manufacturer ;) The doors themselves are quite massive hollow core chipboard panels about 50mm thick with double rebate (for flush block frames). We installed this in a bathroom close to a living area and are satisfied.

Theoretically, critical rooms could also be designed without overflow by providing controlled living space ventilation supply air and exhaust air in these rooms. However, this would have to be discussed with the ventilation planner to avoid ventilation short circuits.

We have decided to technically separate the particularly soundproofed rooms with controlled residential ventilation, so that no door frame ventilators are necessary, because since sound is transmitted through the air, every ventilation is also a sound bridge and in this context counterproductive.
