Since we are facing a similar decision, the provider of the solid wood house offered us the chance to visit a nearly completed solid wood house of a colleague on a warm day, so that we can get an impression of it. The outside temperature was 25°C and when we entered the house, it was pleasantly cool inside. One room on the ground floor was somewhat warmer, but this room was not shaded during the day. The attic had roughly the same temperature as the ground floor. In this respect, I can only agree with , shading plays a major role. In my opinion, the material of the wall is secondary.

Of course, the wall construction is important in both variants. In this solid wood house, the wooden wall thickness is 200mm + 120mm wood fiber insulation boards. Alternatively, we have the option to go for 240mm wooden wall thickness. This should of course help against noise and heat.

The thermal insulation was demonstrated with 20cm HWL. Is there a source for the approval?

Besides adding mass to a wooden roof, like double GK, ventilation should not be overlooked, as the mass can be cooled down again, especially at night.

A rear ventilation of the roof would also be a point to consider.

What should not be completely overlooked is that the lambda value of solid wood is quite high and raw densities of around 450kg/m³ are often given. That quickly corresponds to 0.12 W/mK. However, densities of up to over 700kg/m³ can also be found. That means a lot depends on the solid wood itself and the sealing for airtightness, also against the wood’s "movement".

Hi, sorry. I was completely confused by the discussions with the architect and the building owner and had incorrect numbers and data in my head.

Here is the current roof construction from PHPP

That seems like an extremely high wood content to me. What is the total thickness of the wall construction? I would be very interested in the exact wall construction!

Our wall has "only" 10cm! BSH and is a total of 44cm thick. With this and other measures, we achieve KfW40(+)

I already thought that it is not verifiable with HWL, the lambda values are too poor for that. For heat protection, 1x GK is not sufficient and should always be installed twice on wooden constructions.
