Hello,

I have received a general soil survey from our municipality, but as a layperson, I can't really make much sense of it.

So far, we have only reserved the land, not yet purchased it. Before any potential construction, an exact survey would need to be carried out, which I am aware of.

My question is whether one of the experts present here could give a very "rough" estimate of the necessary earthworks?

If a kind person would be willing to take some time for me, please send me a private message.

Thank you very much in advance!!

Best regards

Hi,

this will probably not be possible (but I am not one of the experts mentioned). The reports from the municipalities usually do not contain the information needed to assess the soil conditions and thus the necessary work.

Soil reports for construction usually include 4 boreholes (2 deep and 2 at (I believe) 4 m). From this, conclusions can be drawn about the soil composition/water-bearing layers. The measures for the foundation are then derived from this (how much gravel, drainage, which concrete, for basements white or black tank).

Hello,

In my opinion, that helps you very little, since soil conditions can already vary at 1.00 to 2.00 m depth. However, if high water tables are already found in the foundation recommendations of the geologist, it is unlikely to be different on your preferred property.

Post the foundation recommendations and we will see further, because "with a little time" it is often not done. Also, prices vary significantly from state to state.

Rhineland regards

In the report, 6 of the mentioned boreholes were conducted. I don't need an exact amount rounded to the hundreds or anything like that, a simple "nonsense soil for building" or "yeah, should stay within limits" would be enough for me.

6 drillings on your potential property? Wow - the municipality is really pulling out all the stops. Otherwise, has already written.

Well, not exactly, more like in the entire new development area.
I took a closer look at the document, but there are no "foundation recommendations" in that sense; rather, regulations for sewer and road construction are listed, etc.

I'll just post one result from the 6 drillings and ask if anything can be inferred from it?
(This drilling is very close to the preferred plot).

Many thanks in advance,

Regards
