Hello!

We would like to equip our front door with an electric door opener. Ideally, the door should be able to be opened in the following ways:

    [*]Fingerprint
    [*]Code
    [*]Bluetooth (Auto Unlock)
    [*]Remote (App)
    [*]Key (as a fallback)

If possible, also with extensively configurable access rights (e.g. temporary or date-dependent) and flexible integration into the smart home.

Most of this, for example, is offered by the Aqara Smart Lock U200. However, this is a retrofit solution for existing doors and is connected to an existing door lock. Apart from the appearance, the big drawback here is that the power supply is via a battery that needs to be recharged regularly. Therefore, we would much prefer an integrated solution with a power connection.

Our builder unfortunately couldn’t really help us in this regard and only referred us to Schüco. But they have various systems under different names (BlueCon, SafeGuard, DCS SmartTouch), whose exact range of functions is poorly documented.

Overall, the topic does not seem to attract much interest in new construction projects. You mostly only find experiences with retrofit solutions.

How did you do it? What would you recommend?

Hello,

depending on the door manufacturer, there are often integrated solutions with a fingerprint reader. For this, a motor lock is installed in the door.

I don't know of a solution that combines all your requirements. Presumably, in your case, it makes sense to separate the trades. The door gets the motor lock and, if applicable, the fingerprint. The keypad and the NFC reader could then be part of the door communication. I don't know any manufacturer with Bluetooth, but I also consider it unnecessary if a fingerprint reader is present.

The connection of the systems must be planned and implemented accordingly in the electrical work.

Best regards

We consciously decided on an aftermarket solution (Switchbot) because a) it can do all that and b) you don't have to fear the provider disappearing in 3 years. All the proprietary developments from various manufacturers look nicely integrated, but to me it was too risky to end up in a dead end from which you can only get out with a lot of initiative. Some were also priced at the pain threshold. We do not regret it; the neighbors with the integrated solution have significantly more problems with fewer functions. You just have to be able to live with the bulky thing on the door lock.

We also have the Switchbot and it works perfectly. We recharge it once a year, only the block is on the lock - but you get used to it. Our window installer also advised us to use an aftermarket solution, as those have worked better for his customers so far than the integrated solutions.

I would like to insert the Nuki. You can customize it entirely according to your wishes (either just the phone, or as an addition fingerprint or code lock - key always works).

We had an automatic lock retrofitted and I installed a Goliath video intercom system with fingerprint and chip for it. A key for emergency opening also works. Goliath is also available with a pin.
