Sounds like a sales slogan for overpriced technology. If protocols are open, or devices are flashable – others have simple IR or 433MHz receivers – you are rather flexible. My "planned controlled residential ventilation": IR remote. Roller shutter motor by radio, both via WiFi bridge into flexible systems like e.g. fhem. Nothing has to be planned in advance either. Everything is and remains flexible.

Short off-topic: : which roller shutter radio solution does Siewert use? Btw, I still wouldn’t trust the electrician (still RBE?) from Siewert with smart home either. :-)

Really OT ;) The crucial step when building with a general contractor is to only take on the necessary services. RBE only installs supply lines for decentralized controlled residential ventilation & power to the roller shutter box. Everything that might be made smart will probably mostly run wirelessly.. To be honest, I also currently don’t feel the urge to make everything smart. It would be a gimmick that would be used rather less. Therefore, better to do it step by step sensibly as needed than to do everything from the start without really using it. (as has often been the case with other things). But at first, I also didn’t see that the OP’s goal was more to preach KNX rather than to gather opinions as stated in the 1st post. I only noticed it through the parallel KNX thread and the response ;) so I’m signing off here.

I handle it similarly, but unlike you I use Openhab 2. I currently use it only in combination with Z-Wave, which is quite on the rise. And even if not, with Openhab I can control almost everything that the market offers... but that also applies to FHEM.

I haven’t dealt with Sonoff yet, but I will probably use it as a cheap solution for switches... only where it is needed, no annoying cables, high reliability according to reports, and costs almost nothing...

Correct, that's why I'm out again here. The proselytizing will start again soon. No one in the KNX corner is interested in more practical and cheaper solutions ;)

OT:

Ok, I’m curious to see if radio works for you. From my own experience as a former Siewert tenant (semi-detached house Lili-Schultz-Weg ;-)) I can tell you that the WLAN signal didn’t make it through the intermediate ceiling (because of reinforced concrete). I hope you plan one access point per floor. ;-)

Regarding the thread:

In the parallel thread I have already spoken out in favor of smart home. Well, I am tech-savvy and probably belong to the group of groupies. Nevertheless, I don’t want to miss it anymore.

What has been implemented:

[*]KNX bus, 5-wire cables to sockets, burning points and blinds
[*]KNX usage for basic functions (lights on/off/dimming, blinds up/down/slats)
[*]Visualization & logic via Loxone, also serves as KNX-IP gateway
    [*]Weather station RenkForce WH2600
[*]Shading logic via Loxone (controls blinds via KNX)
[*]Automatic night lighting (dimmed light via motion detector from a certain time), outdoor lights etc.
    [*]Door video (audio to follow)
[*]Automatic deactivation of the doorbell when away (dogs ...)
[*]Deactivation of the circulation pump when away (whether this makes sense can be debated)
[*]Severe weather warning in smart home app
[*]Presence detection via Unifi WLAN controller
[*]Temperature detection in every room (KNX switch)

In planning:

[*]Integration of controlled residential ventilation & heat pump (read-only, informative via FHEM)
[*]Smart metering (among other things for detecting whether the washing machine is running/TV is on -> activation of lighting and shading scenes)
    [*]Voice output via network speaker
[*]Control of garden lighting, robotic mower via UV in garage
    [*]Presence simulation

I’m sure I forgot some points. But it’s not important at this point. Personally, I consider myself one of the enthusiasts who have gained a hobby with smart home. Basically, I like any automation that saves me work. Put negatively, I’m just lazy. Put positively, I use the time for the (for me) nice things in life.
