Hello everyone,

I am considering having a home automation system installed again for my next project.
So far, I have been using Homematic and am satisfied with it.

Since this is again an old building that needs the entire electrical system redone, it would be important or rather good to know which system to use.

A lot has changed in this area over the past 2 years, and I would like to know your opinion on it.

Best regards

Hmm yes, in what way much done? The hype around the so-called ominous "smarthomes" always just goes around in the media, but under this term everything can be found... from high-tech houses that can learn what the residents need when, down to simple remotely controllable sockets...

Otherwise, the technology is still the same... it's just that many more manufacturers have jumped on the bandwagon and everyone is trying to sell their proprietary system as the best... after all, everyone wants a piece of the pie...

then I better describe exactly what I need.
roller shutter control, camera + intercom system with camera, radiator thermostat heads, underfloor heating, switching sockets, light, smoke detector, maybe also garage door.

These are the rough requirements I have and maybe you can recommend something to me.

There is the guide "c't wissen Smart Home" (just google it, link is not allowed here), which contains a lot of useful information, including about the various systems currently leading the market, with their strengths and weaknesses. It doesn't cost much (8.30 €) and is recommended as an introduction.

There are as many roller shutter controls as there are grains of sand... Intercom systems with or without camera... almost exclusively run through proprietary manufacturer systems anyway... heating system/underfloor heating etc. via Homematic or something like that... you said you have experience with that... lighting works wonderfully with DALI and switchable sockets then also Homematic or one of the many other providers... that's the affordable option...

A bit more expensive for lighting, heating, roller shutters, sockets, etc. is for example Loxone...

And if you want the jack of all trades, there is no way around KNX+DALI, with that you can handle everything, but the price is also somewhat higher...
