Good day everyone,
The question might sound a bit strange but I finally received my countertop (Ikea Skogarp). It is a solid wood countertop. I am now wondering which side is the top and which is the bottom, after all, both sides are wood.
According to the instructions, the countertop is pretreated with wood oil. Does this only apply to the "top side"? Or does it ultimately not matter how you install the thing?
The only visual difference I can notice on the bottom is that the countertop is packaged in a way that on one side there is a cardboard sheet placed over the countertop, while on the other side there is only clear plastic foil. Of course, this can be interpreted in different ways. Is the cardboard the surface that should rest on the floor and the top side not heavily protected since it does not come into contact with the floor (I would almost suspect that) or is it the top side that is deliberately protected with the cardboard?
I want to align the thing correctly right away or slide it properly on the floor, because turning and lifting it up is not so easy since it is 3 meters long and weighs 60 kilos. I don't want to lift it up only to find out it is placed the wrong way around.
Is there possibly someone who knows how these things are normally packaged or if it ultimately doesn't matter how I install the countertop?
