The planner said, you don’t have to feel like you’re on a public toilet at home.

For the shower, we can have a solid partition wall tiled up to the ceiling installed between the shower and the toilet directly by the builder (€1450) and then we would just put a door in at the front.

As an alternative, one could install or have installed by oneself a glass partition wall between the toilet and the shower later on.

I am clearly voting for the glass wall. If necessary, you could choose a nice glass wall design. We have planned it that way in our two bathrooms. There are an incredible number of different glass designs, and even personal photos are possible.
I rejected the suggestion to "brick in" the shower in our building project because otherwise I would feel too confined. I don't like showering between tiled walls and I believe that there are already too many wall tiles used in bathrooms anyway.

It's probably more about the freedom of movement for the elbows and also when cleaning.

I think the statement is fundamentally well made. It doesn't always have to be the minimum DIN dimensions... (20cm), provided you also have a bit more space in the house.
