Should I choose double or triple glazed windows?

I want to replace the old wooden windows of our house (built in 1975) with modern plastic windows. I have obtained various offers and am now undecided between double- or triple-glazed windows. One craftsman advised me to go for double glazing, referring to our poor facade insulation, as otherwise it would lead to a thermal bridge with moldy reveals. Another recommends triple glazing because of the better insulation and sees no risk of mold. Who is right, what should I choose now?

The better the windows are, the more likely it is that mold will form on the reveals; however, poor thermal insulation of the exterior walls is only one factor. Interior wall temperature and humidity must also be taken into account.
So: the risk is there, but mold on the reveals can also occur with double-glazed windows. However, you simply cannot say this for sure for your house – measurements and calculations would be necessary.
But for a house from the 1970s that is normally occupied and heated, I see little problem in modernizing the windows, with good double glazing probably being sufficient.
