Depends on how deep you want to make the concrete. Even if it is only a few meters, I would recommend ready-mix concrete to you.

I want to border the lawn once with the bricks. It’s probably about 70-80 meters. I thought about digging 20cm deep with 20cm width. Then ~10cm of gravel on top, -10.5cm of lean concrete, and then placing the brick on top and pressing it in about halfway. The stone should protrude about 2cm above the ground in the end. Or is that far too little and I can just do it with gravel only? We don’t have moles here, since the soil becomes quite clayey pretty quickly.

How can I actually mix normal concrete relatively easily myself? I won’t borrow a mixer for that. A big tub or how do you do that?! Lean concrete would be easier, which you just throw directly into the hole, wet it with water, and that’s it.

If I now calculate 0.2x0.1x60m, I get 1.2 cubic meters of concrete.

Save yourself the effort and simply set the stones in gravel or crushed stone. The 10cm of concrete won’t bring you much. The stones don’t have to support anything, right?

By the way, pressing them in halfway won’t work either. For the curb stones, I usually made the concrete only 2cm above the planned height and was then able to tap them in with a rubber mallet.

Mix concrete either with a mixer or alternatively in a tub. However, I would only recommend the latter for smaller quantities. And for smaller quantities, I wouldn’t buy cement and sand mixed but rather the ready-mixed bags. The price difference is not that much.

All clear thanks. We'll just lay the stones in the gravel and tap them in. On both sides there will be soil at the end anyway. It should just be a proper edge to the lawn. The garden landscaper will deliver the gravel for the driveway anyway, just deliver me 2-3m³ more and I can use it for laying it.
