Hello,
thank you very much for the many responses.

I think the idea with the board with magnets is a good solution. This way I can take two boards measuring 2.2m each for this opening, place them on the floor at the bottom, and work in two magnets or two metal plates at the top so that the boards do not tip forward.
Would you simply use magnetic catches from the internet or from the hardware store that are also intended for normal (cabinet) doors, or do you have any special recommendations?

Closing the "compartments" with doors is rather difficult because they are different widths. Furthermore, they cannot be "hidden" so that you can see the entire knee wall and easily move things from left to right.

PS: There should actually only be spiders in the knee wall that were already in the room beforehand – it is relatively sealed towards the back and top. Anyone who finds a spider may keep it.

Your squared timber pieces have sufficient depth for mounting common magnetic catches (according to the photo).

If you decide to use magnets:

- Cut the wooden board(s) to size
- Attach the magnetic catches to the vertical battens
- Take the measurements of the catches
- Glue the metal strips onto the wooden boards.

Depending on the thickness, the metal strips can also be screwed on, but gluing is entirely sufficient (with the right adhesive).

Whether 2.20m with a panel makes sense you have to see, especially also regarding material thickness/weight/handling. You can also consider whether to attach door handles/knobs so that you can handle the parts easily. The choice of magnets naturally also depends on material thickness and weight. Magnets come in different holding strengths, it just has to fit the door. If you place the panels on the floor anyway, you can also just use hooks or latches at the top, that would be the simplest/cheapest solution.
