Hi, I am in the process of installing Loxone in our house. The control cabinets (house and sub-distribution in the garage) were professionally planned and set up according to our requirements. I am laying the cables and installing spots and lights. The electrician takes care of the important stuff. I can do the programming myself with the Loxone software. It is not very difficult with a few videos. So far, I am impressed. For cameras, it will be Ubiquiti.

Hello alles3d,

sounds very interesting too, probably a bit too much of a good thing.
Does Loxone head towards Homematic or rather KNX in terms of possibilities?
Do you still have to pay something every month for the software with Loxone?

Best regards
Armany

The software is free. You can integrate all kinds of devices. It is easy via Modbus and there are already many pre-made program parts available for download for a wide range of products. The support in the related forums is very good.

I was able to easily integrate the Sungrow inverter via Modbus and the energy management from Loxone for charging the electric cars with surplus from the photovoltaic system. Since the wallbox is installed in the garage, I created an automation in the mobile app that closes the garage door to 90% after 30 seconds when a car is connected to the wallbox and charging. We have a Hörmann garage door, as it is directly supported by Loxone.

and are going a nice path. They come up with automation scenarios and then implement them. The joy that it succeeds is huge and priceless. That’s how a happy hobby works. The fascination of stepping onto this playground is completely understandable to me, even though I have decided against it.

Most important aspects: 1. I do not want to become the system administrator in my wife’s life – and she doesn’t want that either. Everyone can independently understand and operate the basic functions in the house without a manual, without interfering anywhere. 2. Surveillance does not appeal to me. Therefore, there are no devices that could store who is where in the house and when, and certainly not what the person says or does. 3. With our parents, we could observe that things not learned in childhood were forgotten again. This includes the operation of touch dimmer light switches or devices with menu navigation. If at all, I want to come into the situation of no longer understanding my own house as late as possible. The scene where my father realized he couldn’t turn on the light has stuck with me. I’m not going in that direction.

Before anyone thinks that I therefore generally reject home automation – no, I do not make my attitude the standard for others.
