At a well-known Swedish furniture store, there is a recessed cooktop for €1600.

Take a look at Falmec Mare, available in black and white, and you can set the hanging height to your preference. In my opinion, stylish, functional, and should reasonably fit your budget.

We also have an island and decided on a Miele induction cooktop with integrated extraction. The house builder installed a thick exhaust pipe from the start into the floor slab and led it out on the north side. It works wonderfully. Almost "all" odors are extracted and vented outside. I would definitely do it again. We also initially considered a ceiling extractor hood. We even had a ceiling reinforcement installed but then chose the downdraft extractor for aesthetic reasons.
