So in our ground floor apartment construction, a 14-day accelerator is standard. Avoid drafts but air out thoroughly for the first 2 days and everything is fine. No cracks etc.

I recently discussed the topic of accelerators with the site manager. He dismissed it quite elegantly. We are getting calcium sulfate screed/anhydrite screed, and accelerators are more for cement screed.

Is that correct? I find hits on the internet with accelerators under the keywords.

Our site manager is calculating 3-3.5 months for the handover of the house after the screed. Since the screed is now delayed in our case due to rework on the concrete ceiling, I see us moving in at the end of October/beginning of November instead of mid-September.

I explain the site manager’s first reflex as trying to avoid the additional costs for the accelerator. With the contractually agreed penalty, he should at least be able to invest €5 per sqm to meet the deadline and ensure a satisfied client, or am I missing something?

Accelerators are also possible and normal with your calcium sulfate screed (e.g., Mebofix). You can significantly reduce the time until the screed is ready for covering. However, the effect is even greater with cement screed.

Thanks for the search term. With the accelerator, the floor would be ready for covering after about 1 month = shortening from about 2 months to 1 month. That would make the client very happy. ;)

With accelerator, you can be ready for covering after just 1.5 weeks. For me, it was 7 (seven!!!) days with a cement screed. Uh, without accelerator, the average calcium sulfate screed is finished after at the latest 4 weeks. Not two months. 1. Do nothing for seven days 2. About one week of functional heating 3. About one week of covering readiness heating (depending on the thickness of the screed or the CM measurement) This is roughly what the heating protocols for calcium sulfate screed look like.

I am still waiting for feedback from the GU. My current status is that we can start the painting work about 4 weeks after the screed, again with another 4 weeks.

I believe I was told 6 weeks for readiness for covering by the GU.

At Mebofix I found this info:
How quickly does a calcium sulfate screed dry at all?
Under normal building conditions, the drying time of a calcium sulfate screed can be determined using a simple formula:
"Thickness of the screed squared multiplied by the factor 1.6"
This relation, borrowed from concrete technology, results in a drying time of 6 x 6 x 1.6 = 57.6 days for a six-centimeter thick screed – that is almost two months!

What is done in the period between screed and moving in is, in my opinion, just "peanuts," or am I mistaken?
