Hello dear forum,

I have a question.

Since we had delays due to Corona, our developer now wants to use a screed with a drying accelerator. This would apparently be ready for the floor covering after 5 days.

Of course, we are happy that we don’t have to heat for 6 weeks.

However, we also wonder if this screed has any disadvantages. I did a bit of googling but couldn’t really find anything, and many reports are quite old.

That’s why I thought I’d ask what you think about it.

As for floor coverings, parquet glued on the ground floor, parquet floating on the upper floor, and tiles in the bathroom on the upper floor. In the basement, all rooms will have tiles except the office, where we will lay laminate.

I would really appreciate your opinions.

Regards Ivonne

seriously, is that possible? I would definitely confirm the actual readiness for covering with a corresponding residual moisture measurement before installing the floor covering.

We also had accelerated screed – although there are many different agents/accelerators – but it was only covered after many weeks. The construction moisture of screed and plaster is enormous. Despite dehumidifiers.

And there were also more cracks than expected/wanted. Whether it was due to the accelerator, I don’t know.

Depending on the accelerator, the screed can be ready for covering after 3 days. However, heating is still necessary. This is not about dry heating but about relieving the tension and proving the function of the heating system (so-called functional heating). The standard program runs for 21 days but can be shorter. Please do not load when using an accelerator!!! Keep everything closed, otherwise the screed will bowl.

We decided on screed accelerators. For reasons of time. The functional heating was thus shortened to about 10 days. 14 days after installation, the screed was ready for covering. For us, the application of the accelerator automatically included the Cm measurement from the manufacturer of the screed accelerator. So we did not have to commission that separately. This was important for us because we had taken the wooden floors out of the contract and commissioned them externally.

Haha, you're welcome. I just happen to build a house more often.
