Hello,
our electricity bill was way too high last month! Now we want to save some electricity and hope you can help us. We have already looked at [Steckdose] and found a few tips there, but there are surely more. So how do you save electricity??? Is there maybe something at Ikea on this topic? Maybe lamps that consume particularly little electricity or something like that?? Does anyone of you know about this?
It would be really great if you had a few tips for us, thanks ;)

Hello FredeS!

LED, LED, LED and LED again.

By now, there are 240V LED bulbs available for many applications, with E14 and E27 sockets. The LED replacement bulbs for 240 V halogen also work well. In general, you still have to compare the light colors. I recently replaced the 4 x 40W E14 candles in the living room with Toshiba E14 LED candles of 6W each. More pleasant light and instead of 160W only 24 W. With 4 hours of operation per day, that makes about 200 kW or around €50 per year. In the bathroom, I replaced the 4 x 50 W 240V halogen spotlights with 4 x 3W 240 LED bulbs. Saves another good €35 with 1 hour per day. The list can go on like this for a long time.

Of course, the LED bulbs are much more expensive but they also last 10 to 20 years...

What is also an energy guzzler are microwaves. Not when they are in use, but the inevitable clock inside. Our Siemens wave actually consumes 60W in standby, that is, without a cat drying inside. That is almost 1.5kW per day, mind you, for the clock, or about €125 per year. I now have a remote switch with which I simply disconnect the microwave from the power supply when I don't need it.

In the kitchen, I generously installed IKEA Dioder LED lights in the cabinets and under the wall cabinets.

They produce very nice light and consume almost no power. By the way, with some skill you can connect up to 12 of the lights to one power supply. That means significantly less cable clutter than if a 5W power supply is used for every 4 lights. By the way, these lights have become about 50% cheaper. Last year they still cost almost €40 and are now available for just under €20.

I have meanwhile also switched to the Tegernsee hydroelectric power plants. A small electric utility with real, personal contacts who advise well and the electricity can be ordered from 100% hydropower. With a price guarantee until the end of 2012!

Good savings and a nice evening! Photocat.

YES, at Ikea the LEDs are probably really the most energy-saving option. I myself attached some to the bed and have to say, they look great and were very easy.
