I actually find sliding doors annoying. The movement that such a construction makes is much more complicated than a door on normal hinges. But now, through my own fault, I have installed two such doors in our house because they seemed sensible to me (and don’t take up any space when open. I would find them great open, my wife – otherwise very much appreciated – always closes them in summer anyway ). Their noises annoy me, as I expected, but did not pay enough attention to. The installed hangers (two different ones, both quite equally loud) were advertised as particularly quiet, but make noticeable sounds. Now I am looking for a room sliding door mechanism that is really silent, but so far I can’t find anything that convinces me. Somehow the rollers and the track have to work as damped as possible and any noise that still occurs should be transferred neither to the door nor to the wall … Does anyone know something?

Dorma-Kaba has very quiet systems with softclose and open. Eclisse is also very quiet. But I believe it is only available for recessed wall installation. There is no completely silent one.

Thank you very much for the tips. At first glance, I found the online presentations of both companies somewhat confusing, but I guess I have to learn to deal with that....

I don't understand why this difference is important. Both of my doors hang in front of a wall, but disappear behind cabinets, so they are basically recessed .... however, I can - that may be a difference - still basically access the suspension even after installation. It is certainly elaborate, but it works without re-plastering or repainting.

By "built into the wall" I meant that the door runs inside the wall. Eclisse are complete frame systems that are installed into the wall. You are looking for a track system that hangs on the wall. From personal experience, I know dorma-kaba.

Hello . Would you like to post pictures of a door and perhaps describe the noises? Maybe you can even identify the source? Then one could systematically try measures (replace bearings, install rubber dampers, decouple x from y, etc.) ...
