Hi
No, not single. I have 2 kids, a wife, and a dog
The house has 225m2 of living space, 14 windows, and two glass fronts. So there should be about 16 blinds.
How should I imagine this? A cable is run from each blind motor down to the basement to the MDT blind actuator. It is connected to the MDT IP gateway, and from there it goes via IP into my LAN?

From the costs I have found on the internet, it would be around €250 for the 16-channel actuator and €350 for the IP gateway plus cables?
Is that correct?

It could work like that, but your plan is missing physical switches in every room. An alternative might be decentralized switching actuators directly on the blinds? Then you could save the star wiring, if desired. The rest of the house is NOT supposed to be smart? If it's only about blinds, I would choose a wireless solution, which is available directly with WLAN (Shelly for example).

Please introduce your construction project. This would make things a lot easier and we are also curious. Do you have venetian blinds or regular roller shutters? What exactly is your goal? Should it be smart or just centrally and (remotely) controllable?

To make it smart, you need more than just a control via KNX. For example, a weather station for sun tracking and as a wind guard... You need to "program" the KNX components using ETS (or have it done). This way, all basic functions work and depending on the components, some logic is already included. With a logic server, you can then do everything else. For underfloor heating, control is not necessarily needed. It is too slow and therefore only makes sense if linked to weather forecasts. How high is your budget? I would lay all the bus cables right away. This way, you can expand your system later, for example with lighting, motion sensors, smoke detectors, etc., if the budget is not sufficient now.

I don't think much of writing the software for your project yourself. There are so many options and software to control KNX. Whether a logic server for DIN rail or a facility server... you’re better off with that. And believe me, you’ll have enough programming to do. The advantage is that there is a large community that can support you. There are also many pre-made modules. The tasks are usually the same or at least very similar.

There is a forum just for KNX. You are probably better off there for this part of your house planning. For the actuators, you also need switches with bus couplers. This means only one bus line runs to the switches. There are many options here. For example, in the basement room just one push button with a bus coupler, in the kitchen a glass push button 2 to trigger multiple functions, and a panel in the living room... The nice thing about KNX is that it is a standard. You are not bound to one manufacturer but can combine freely.

If you might possibly consider a WLAN-based solution, Shelly 2.5 modules are exactly what you are looking for. Open API and you can easily install them behind the analog switches.

I also want to be able to control my blinds smartly (house construction will start at the end of the year). Are these WLAN solutions any good? How "secure" are they if the WLAN protocol becomes outdated in 10 years?

WLAN solutions are suitable to satisfy the play instinct a little. If you want more, you have to rely on serious systems.
