Hello again,

Addendum to my aforementioned conversion action (Busch-Jäger sockets):
Buying complete sockets, i.e. the insert with electrical contacts including the covers with touch protection, was cheaper than buying only the covers with touch protection.
Because the insert was identical to those already installed in the walls, I only changed the covers throughout the house (even above the kitchen cabinets).
Our conscience is clear with that.

I disposed of everything that was left over, a pity, but the important goal of child safety was achieved.

The socket insert is generally always the same and only the front plate differs.

Yes, but individual cover plates from Busch-Jäger are hardly available. You have to buy a whole socket right away. So you just insert the inserts and it fits.

There are also inserts that you attach with the central screw of the cover plate. They hold forever without any glue.

Same deal with my Merten M boxes. Still, you should check whether the front plates and wall inserts match each other. I inquired whether only these "shutters" were available as spare parts, but apparently only the front plate is sold as a whole. Therefore, I also bought complete sockets and only exchanged the front plates. Unit price around 5 EUR. Instead of a makeshift solution, something proper.

But just dispose of them? Should such sensitive items as sockets be sold privately or better left alone? A contacted online retailer unfortunately does not accept them back. Does anyone even buy used sockets without warranty/guarantee?

So I would tend not to buy used sockets from anyone. On the other hand, everyone has to decide that for themselves. If I, as a seller, haven't tampered with them, I wouldn't have any concerns selling them.
