But there are also many nice things in life that are independent of a house.

It's not about Jo as a single only being entitled to 70 sqm (+children's room), it's about Jo possibly considering going from 170 to, say, 150, so that he feels more comfortable with the financing and with the money saved he can then afford a cleaning lady.

I myself also like to live generously, but beyond a certain room or house size, there is the discomfort of not fitting in.

And there are better options than furnishing his house with empty rooms, a pool table, or a cross trainer; namely, Jo can still afford going out and paying numerous monthly fees for various clubs and associations.
I think that's great!

Regards, Yvonne

He already has.

Those are probably true luxury problems.

I believe he can afford all that simultaneously. So what now?

He can afford anything! True! But I felt that some numbers scare him... so from me there are not men's encouragements, but women's concerns Best regards, Yvonne

I think I would take a closer look at where the stomach ache is coming from. Worry often has a real and meaningful component and can also serve as a good adviser. So maybe it's worth taking a closer look at what is causing you difficulties, dear Jo. Perhaps it is not the dream plot after all and a somewhat cheaper one would fit better? Or you might prefer to save for a while longer and only build once a larger part of the plot is paid off? Or something completely different?

...or is there a building obligation on the property? If yes, by when must construction begin?

If it is your absolute dream property, then I would buy it, pay off diligently, and in the meantime think more about the house and then decide what will be built.
