Repurpose chimney - ideas?

My kitchen is located directly next to it. Could I connect the extractor hood there? Or will it whistle in the kitchen then?

We had the combination of extractor hood and unused chimney for the last 18 years in the old house. It worked great. And the kitchen was on the ground floor. Above it were the first and top floors, so quite a long way up.

Leave it as it is. I personally would install a small stove/fireplace there. Why not? It is certainly cozier than without, both in the intermediate season and in winter....
